Media: Twitter, Arduino, thermal printer
What would a bot do if it could write a mash note? Let’s ask it. This project will craft a lovebot on Twitter, and pair it with a small thermal printer. Drawing on Roland Barthes’ A Lover’s Discourse: Fragments and Bruno Latour’s Aramis, or the Love of Technology as its primary texts, MashBOT asks us to think about the ways in which the written declaration of love (the mash note) is a document at once fragmentary, transactional and unfathomable. Love notes are generated by the @mashomatic twitterbot and printed as “receipts” for display.
